Hi friends, welcome back to Cloudbites. Thinking of studying for the AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification (CCP), but not sure if it's worth it? Last week, I published a YouTube video discussing exactly that.

๐ŸŽ“ Is the AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification Worth It?

The full video breakdown can be found here.

What It Covers: This entry-level certification covers the basics of AWS Cloud, including core services, pricing, security, and architecting. It's a 90-minute exam with 65 multiple-choice questions.

Will It Get You a Job? Probably not on its own. But if you're new to the Cloud, it provides a structured path to learn the fundamentals.

Three Factors to Consider:

  1. Career Goals & Objectives: Does it align with your long-term career goals? If you aim for a technical role in AWS, it's a great starting point. It's also useful for students and non-technical roles.

  2. Market Demand and Trends: AWS is leading the cloud market, and skills in AWS are in demand. Even non-technical roles can benefit from understanding the cloud.

  3. Time & Cost Investment: The exam fee is around $100 USD, and preparation takes about 16 hours. It's relatively low compared to other AWS certifications.

๐Ÿš€ Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Foundation for Future Learning: It's a stepping stone for you to gain more specialized knowledge later on.

  • Market Demand: AWS's significant market share means thereโ€™s a strong demand for professionals who understand AWS Cloud.

  • (Relatively) Low in Cost & Time Investment: $100 USD, accessible for those starting their cloud journey.

Cons:

  • Not Enough Technical Depth: It only covers AWS services at a basic level.

  • Limited Differentiation: It doesn't help you stand out as much as higher-level certifications
