I often get asked: "Will AI replace cloud roles?", The answer is yes, and no.

The cloud industry is splitting into two camps.

On one side, traditional cloud tasks are getting automated by AI. This includes manual server provisioning, standard deployment runbooks and coding.

And on the other side, there's explosive demand for cloud professionals who can architect AI-native systems.

Companies are paying premium salaries for tech professionals with AI skills.

According to CNBC, job postings for those with at least two AI skills listed are 43% higher.

But the AI skills that companies need aren’t actually the theoretical concepts you'd learn through a degree.

Just like how you’ve learnt cloud, AI skills can also be self-taught.

Here are 3 AI skills to supercharge your AWS learning:

Skill #1: Vibe Coding With AI

Vibe coding is when you build software by describing what you want in plain English, rather than writing traditional code.

You tell the AI your idea, it generates the code, and then you keep prompting it with changes until you’re satisfied by the result.

Most cloud jobs involve following procedures and best practices, but vibe coding has no rules.

With vibe coding, you can:

• Experiment and try wild ideas

• Break things and iterate quickly

• Build prototypes and personal projects without risk

Creative problem-solving mindset is needed as AI transforms the industry, it gets you comfortable with uncertainty and teaches you how to work alongside AI

Skill #2: AI Workflow Automation

This involves building systems that connect multiple AI models, integrate with your existing tools, and run automatically.

Traditionally when something breaks, once you get an alert, you’ll have to manually investigate logs, create a ticket and notify people.

With AI workflow automation, that alert triggers an AI agent that:

• Analyzes logs and identifies the root cause

• Notifies the right people

• Suggests AI fixes based on previous similar incidents

Cloud providers like AWS have already rolled out tools like Amazon Q Business, with AI workflow automation capabilities.

Skill #3: AI Ethics & Governance

Every company is rushing to implement AI, but most of them have no clue how to do it responsibly.

They'rescared of bias, compliance issues, and how to explain AI decisions to customers or regulators.

This creates a massive opportunity for cloud professionals who understand both the technical side and the governance side.

You become the person who can:

• Implement AI systems that actually work in the real world

• Avoid putting your company in trouble
