Hi friends, welcome back to Cloudbites. As we move into the new year, you might be wondering - is Cloud Computing still worth learning?
Today, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on this topic, and will provide some insights on the top trends & jobs in Cloud to look out for.
🤔 Is Cloud Computing Still Worth Learning in 2024?
With the sudden rise of AI this year, many people are concerned their jobs may be replaced by tools like ChatGPT.
However, while there is potential for AI to automate some jobs, this overlooks the fact that AI is completely built on & driven by the cloud.
At OpenAI's first DevDay Conference earlier this month, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella shared a powerful message:
“Our job No. 1 is to build the best system, so that you can build the best models and then make that all available to developers.”
This shows that as AI models advance, there will be a great need for robust, scalable cloud infrastructure. As a result, cloud computing skills are now more important than ever.
In summary: Yes, Cloud Computing is still worth learning in 2024, because of its huge demand in the market. As more companies migrate & innovate on the cloud, there will be a growing need for trained and skilled professionals.
📚 How to adapt your Cloud Learning Journey
To keep your skills & knowledge relevant, here are 3 tips to consider when learning cloud in 2024:
Tip #1: Integrate AI into your Learning
Spend time upskilling on cloud services that intersect with AI. For example, you could try building Machine Learning models on Amazon SageMaker.Tip #2: Understand Cloud Fundamentals
Make sure you have a strong grasp on the core cloud computing concepts. For example, achitecture, security, and networking. This will help you build a strong foundation for more complex topics later on.Tip #3: Stay up-to-date with Trends
By keeping yourself informed on the latest in cloud trends, you can quickly adapt to new tools and technologies that emerge.
💼 [PLUS] 5 In-Demand Cloud Computing Jobs for next year
Here are 5 Cloud roles that are expected to grow in demand:
Solutions Architect
Solutions Architects have a deep understanding of cloud services and architectural best practices. This allows them to create uniquely tailored solutions for clients - which is hard to be replicated by AI.DevOps Engineer
DevOps Engineers bridge the gap between software development and operations. As cloud infrastructure becomes increasingly complex, they need to be the ones making sure operations and deployment run smoothly.Security Engineer
Security Engineers assess risk and set up measures to protect customers and company data stored in the cloud. With the growing threat from AI-powered hackers, demand for this role will continue to rise.
Data Engineer
Data Engineers are key to managing and optimizing data within cloud environments. Their skills are needed for handling large-scale datasets and making data-driven decisions.Cloud AI/ML Engineer
Cloud AI/ML Engineers focus on developing and deploying AI/ML models in the cloud. With 2023 being the biggest year for AI thus far, demand for this role will be at an all time high.
That's all for now. Thanks for reading! 😊
