🔄 Cloud Jobs in 2026: What Changed

If you’re trying to break into cloud in 2026, here’s the truth: the market is going through a reset.

The skills that got people hired two years ago aren't the same ones that'll get you hired today. Cloud computing isn't going anywhere.

AI is built on top of cloud infrastructure. Most of the world’s AI workloads are hosted in data centers owned by AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

This means companies still help with building, deploying, and maintaining cloud setups. AI alone cannot handle all of that.

Humans will be expected to work alongside AI agents, using tools to help them automate manual tasks.

Landing a Cloud Job in 2026 is all about AI. Use it to learn and upskill, and then stay ahead by continuously using it in your work.

🎥 Check out my video on Follow these 5 SIMPLE Steps to Land a Cloud Job in 2026, where I cover what’s happening inside big tech and how AI is impacting cloud roles.

🧭 The 5 Steps That Actually Get You Hired

Now, let’s get into the 5 simple steps to land a cloud job in 2026.

Step 1: Master Cloud and IT Fundamentals

Choose one path and stay consistent:

  • Certification route: helpful for structure and landing interviews.

    Resources: AWS Skill Builder, Udemy.

  • Project-first route: fastest way to learn and prove skills. Start small and build up.

Resources: workshops.aws, free Zero To Cloud project.

  • Bootcamp or degree: I’d recommend against. Those programs charge thousands of dollars, without a job guarantee.

Give yourself about 2-3 months to understand Cloud Computing and IT fundamentals. Use ChatGPT or Claude to create study notes, summary tables, and ask it to quiz you on important concepts.

Step 2: Gain Hands-on Experience

This is where many learners get stuck because they don’t know what to build.

Progress in levels:

  • Start small: deploy a website on Amazon S3.

  • Then build projects that connect three or more cloud services, like a three-tier web application on AWS.

3-4 solid projects that cover a wide range of cloud services and use cases are enough. Focus on their quality, and document them clearly.

Step 3: Play With AI

Use AI daily to learn faster, unblock yourself, and automate repetitive tasks. The goal is to get comfortable working alongside AI tools, because that’s now part of cloud work.

Step 4: Prepare for Interviews

Don’t wait until you have an interview scheduled to start practicing.

When it comes to cloud interviews, there are 3 main types:

  • Behavioral: Use the STAR method and prepare 5-8 stories.

  • Technical: practice explaining your projects out loud and review common questions (Glassdoor helps).

  • Presentations: practice architecture diagrams and walking through your decisions clearly.

Step 5: Network and Build Your Brand

Many roles are filled through networking. Comment on posts from cloud engineers and architects, share what you’re learning, post your projects, and join communities on Slack or Discord.

💡 My Advice:

If you follow these five steps consistently, you will be in a strong position to land a cloud role in 2026.

🏥 PLUS: You can now ask ChatGPT about your health

OpenAI just introduced ChatGPT Health, a dedicated space inside ChatGPT for health and wellness questions, with the option to connect your health data for more grounded answers

💡 Here’s what you should know:

  • It’s a separate Health space: your Health chats, memories, and files stay separate from the rest of ChatGPT.

  • You can connect data (optional): medical records and wellness apps like Apple Health and MyFitnessPal can be linked for more context.

  • Not a replacement for doctors: OpenAI positions it as support, not diagnosis or treatment, and access is rolling out via waitlist.
