CLOUD COMPUTING ☁️
💼 Roadmap to a Successful Cloud Career
As more companies adopt Cloud solutions in their operations, there are many opportunities to launch a career in this growing field.
If you're looking to start a career in the cloud computing industry, here’s a roadmap to help you become a qualified candidate:
#1 Get Certified
The first step in your Cloud journey is to gain foundational knowledge through certifications.
I’d suggest you spending 2-4 months studying for an entry-level certification, such as the AWS Cloud Practitioner.
This certification will provide you with a structured approach to the basics of cloud computing and help you learn more advanced concepts.
#2 Build Cloud Projects
Once you have your foundational certification, the next step is to gain hands-on experience by building Cloud projects.
This will help you apply the knowledge you’ve learned and demonstrate your real-world practical skills to potential employers.

#3 Optimize Your Resume and LinkedIn
After building several projects and gained some skills, don’t forget to showcase them as a part of your personal brand.
Update your resume and LinkedIn profile to include your certifications and projects.
Tailor your resume for each job application by using keywords from the job description to increase your chances of standing out.
#4 Prepare for Interviews
Last but not least, some of the job applications you sent might lead you to interviews, so make sure to thoroughly prepare for them.
A Cloud job interview usually consists of some technical and behavioral questions.
It’s important to familiarize yourself with common interview questions and practice your responses.
Technical question sample: What tools does AWS provide for monitoring resources?
Behavioral question sample: How would you deal with a customer complaint?
👩🏻💻 3 Tips on Starting a Cloud Career
Tip #1: Use AI to Your Advantage
One of the best ways to accelerate your learning this year is by leveraging AI tools like ChatGPT.
If you haven't started using these resources yet, you're missing out on a significant opportunity to learn more efficiently.
You can use ChatGPT to help you simplify complex Cloud concepts, assist you with troubleshooting and problem-solving when building projects.
Tip #2: Turn Your Knowledge into Skills
Learning the theory and concepts is just the first step.
Applying that knowledge is more important because employers want to see that you can solve real-world problems using Cloud technologies.
Start by building projects on AWS Free Tier or other Cloud platforms to get yourself comfortable with the Cloud.
Experimenting and learning from past mistakes is one of the best ways to learn.
Tip #3: Master Cloud Interviews
Preparing for Cloud interviews is important to get yourself ready.
But to effectively pitch yourself and make yourself stand out as an applicant, you have to master them.
Here’s how you can do it:
Format your response using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to clearly articulate your experiences
Do mock interviews to get more confident with the interview setting
Record yourself answering questions to identify areas for improvement
