Read time: 5 minutes

Hi friends, welcome back to Cloudbites

In this newsletter, I’m going to share my honest thoughts on the current Cloud Job Market.

If you’ve been learning cloud the same way as before, it might be time to adjust. Working with AI is slowly becoming part of the job.

I’ll also be sharing a new AWS tool called AgentCore that helps you run AI agents directly in your cloud environment.

CLOUD COMPUTING ☁️

🤖 My Honest Thoughts on the Cloud Job Market

Here’s my honest thoughts on the cloud market and how roles are actually shifting.

Cloud roles aren’t disappearing, they’re evolving.

AI hasn’t replaced cloud jobs, but it’s definitely reshaping them.

When I worked as a Solutions Architect, I used to make architecture diagrams, help choose services, and estimate costs.

Nowadays:

  • Tools like Amazon Q can generate diagrams

  • ChatGPT can suggest services

  • Pricing tools can give quick estimates

But people still want human support when things get complex.

It’s like hiring a personal trainer at the gym. AI can build you a custom workout plan. But many people still want human interaction, guidance, and accountability.

If you’re learning cloud, or in the cloud space, just remember AI isn’t replacing cloud jobs - it’s reshaping them.

You’ll need to keep up to date, by building future-proof skills like Prompt Engineering, critical thinking, and real-world problem solving.

You don’t have to become an AI expert. But you should know how cloud and AI work together, because that’s where demand is shifting.

In 2025, you’ll hear a lot of people saying “AI won’t take your job, but a person using AI tools will”.

By 2026, Cloud jobs will become AI job, and people will be expected to work alongside AI agents.

🔁 How AI Is Reshaping Cloud Roles

Wondering if AI will end up taking cloud roles?

🎥 Check out my new video on My Honest Thoughts on the Cloud Job Market, where I share how AI is actually reshaping, not replacing, cloud careers.

I break down the real trends I’m seeing, the kind of skills still in demand, and how to future-proof your role (without chasing the hype).

📈 Top trends shaping cloud jobs

AI trends are shaping the future of cloud. Here are top three trends to keep in mind as AI keeps growing:

  1. Prompting is now expected
Cloud engineers are expected to use tools like Amazon Q and ChatGPT to speed up tasks. Knowing how to prompt well isn’t a bonus anymore, it’s part of the job.

  2. New infra skills are in demand
More companies are running AI workloads. That means growing demand for people who understand GPUs, pipelines, and model deployment on the cloud.

  3. Cloud, DevOps, and data are overlapping
The lines between these roles are fading. Teams want people who can automate, move data around, and support AI-powered systems, not just build static cloud setups.

Is it too late to start a cloud career?

Not at all. But the market has matured.

In 2020, companies rushed to the cloud and hired fast. Now, most are already there, and they want speed, security, and cost-efficiency.

That means the roles are still there. But the expectations have shifted.

If you're just starting out:

  • Learn cloud, but pair it with a practical skill
Cloud + Python, or Terraform, or security, or data, pick one that aligns with your goals

  • Build and document real projects
Everyone has a cert now. Projects show how you think and solve problems.

  • Keep up with AI
You don’t have to know everything. But start small, maybe study for the AWS AI Practitioner cert, or try a tool like Claude or LangChain

Soft skills matter too. The people who stand out are those who can explain clearly, work with others, and build trust.

And if you’re more entrepreneurial, now’s a great time to build something on your own.

Final Thoughts

Cloud isn’t dead. It’s just changing.

The bar has gone up. And that’s a good thing, it means better teams, better learning, and more space for people who take this seriously.

If you’re someone who learns, builds, and communicates well, there’s still plenty of room for you here.

Cloud isn’t going away. It’s evolving, and so should we.

📦 Serverless Just Got Smarter with AWS AgentCore

At the NYC Summit, AWS launched Bedrock AgentCore, a new tool to build and run AI agents directly in your cloud environment.

These agents can remember context, have identity, and talk to services like Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.

Why it matters: Cloud engineers will now be expected to build and manage AI agents in production, just like APIs or microservices.

This is a big shift for how AI fits into real cloud projects.

THAT’S A WRAP
