Hi friends, welcome back to Cloudbites. Want to get AWS Certified but not too sure where to start? Today, I’ll be walking through the different certification learning paths available - as recommended by AWS.
🤷♀️ Which AWS Certification Should you Start With?
New to Tech? Start off with the AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification. This foundational-level exam focuses on basic cloud concepts and terminology. You can then start looking at entry-level cloud jobs, and consider earning additional certifications.
If you’re a Business Professional, complete the Cloud Practitioner certification. It will help you communicate better with customers and stakeholders who are using the cloud.
Have 1-3 Years of Experience in IT? Get an associate-level certification that aligns with your role and interests. This will not only help you gain confidence and credibility, but also validate your knowledge and skills in AWS.
🗺 AWS Certification Paths (By Role)
If you’re aiming for a specific cloud role, check out these 13 cloud career pathways with corresponding certifications roadmaps. You can download the PDF guide here.
This full list of roles may seem overwhelming - but the good news is you only need to aim for one role. Here are 3 of my personal favourites:
Solutions Architect: As an ex-AWS Solutions Architect, I would say that this certification path is pretty spot on. However, I took a slightly different route, by completing an additional two associate certifications. This helped me build up more confidence to tackle the professional certification.
Cloud Engineer: This is another one of my favourite roles, because Cloud Engineers are the backbone to any major cloud operation. The recommended certification path provides a solid foundation into infrastructure configuration, deployment and troubleshooting.
Machine Learning (ML) Engineer: Demand in this field is skyrocketing as companies look to integrate AI & Machine Learning into their operations. The main reason they don’t want you to dive straight into the ML certification is because you’ll need to first have a solid understanding of the core AWS services and concepts.
