Hi friends, welcome back to Cloudbites. Today, I’ll be sharing about another popular role in the Cloud industry - the Technical Account Manager. I’ll also be revealing the most important soft skill to set you apart when applying for cloud jobs.

👩‍💻 What is a Technical Account Manager?

As more companies begin to adopt cloud technology, there is increasing demand for Technical Account Managers.

This role can be found in most cloud computing providers including AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. They offer strategic support and represent the cloud provider’s clients.

This could be a great role to consider when starting your cloud journey.

  • What Does a Technical Account Manager actually do?


    A Technical Account Manager (TAM) focuses on providing tailored advice to large enterprise customers, through each phase of the cloud adoption life cycle.

    They act as a strategic expert on the full line of cloud services.

  • What are their roles and responsibilities?

    A TAM’s main responsibility is to meet with Enterprise customers, in order to understand their issues and help them along their cloud adoption journey.

    These meetings may involve: making recommendations on new service offerings, presenting periodic reviews, or pitching strategies to optimize operations.

    In the case of customer incidents, the TAM is also the first point of contact. They are responsible for communicating with other employees to resolve issues as quickly as possible.

💭 How Do I Know if this Role is Right For Me?

If you’re wondering whether this role could be right for you, here are some things to consider:

  1. Do you like working in a fast-paced environment? If so, this role is great for you. This job is well-suited for someone who is resilient, enjoys thinking on their feet, and coming up with efficient solutions.
